Sunday 4th October: race report

OCTOBER 4

RACE REPORT: TORBAY SPRINT TRIATHLON AND SWCXL RD 3

SWIM TO SAND: A BIG WEEKEND FOR DAO!

This weekend saw plenty of DAO wheels in action across Triathlon and Cyclocross.

Torbay Sprint Triathlon

First up, Lucy took on the Torbay Sprint Triathlon, competing in her second ever triathlon.

Here's how it went:

"Going into my second triathlon I set a time goal of 1:25. With this being a flat course I thought it would be a great test of what I can achieve, whilst still getting comfortable with triathlons in general.

Swim 400m - 8:37
Having only started swimming in the summer, this is still my weakest discipline by far. I aimed to maintain a steady tempo pace throughout, rather than going too fast and taking away from my stronger disciplines.

Bike 19.5km - 36.42
The bike was the highlight of my race. I went out hard from the start and just hoped that I could maintain the speed throughout! Closed-circuit racing was new to me, but I found my rhythm with the corners quickly and managed to hold the pace throughout.

Run 5km - 26:25
A slightly slower run than I wanted, but that was partly due to pushing so hard on the bike. My legs felt like bricks for the first mile before slowly easing into it. Bike -> run is definitely something I need to work on in the future!

Final time - 1:14:56
Over 10 minutes below my original goal of 1:25 and managing 9th female!
Really pleased with my progress overall, and excited to see what I can do in the future with more training!"

Great work Lucy - an impressive result and more than 10 minutes inside your goal time!

South West Cyclocross League – Round 3

Round 3 of the South West Cyclocross League took riders to Saltash, with Lisa, Tom, Harry and Charlotte all lining up.

The course offered a challenging mix of cyclocross racing, including sand pits, grass banks, planks and some fantastic views overlooking the Saltash coast. All four riders put in strong performances, with Lisa, Tom and Charlotte each taking 2nd place in their respective categories, and Harry coming in in 7th place.

A strong weekend of racing!
